EMERGE started as an annual industry gathering of more than 500 financial health practitioners trying to figure out how to move the needle together. Over the past decade, it has become a vital hub for researchers, founders, policymakers, and practitioners in cities from New Orleans to Chicago to San Diego, and an indispensable event for those focused on improving financial health.

Substance has served as the creative partner behind EMERGE’s brand identity and event design since its inception, building a visual system that travels across keynote stages, digital platforms, print, and everything in between, and holds up year after year as the event itself keeps changing.

Impact

The results of the EMERGE rebrand have shown up year over year, as the event has grown attendance, sharpened its reputation among financial health practitioners nationally, and given the brand enough flexibility to move with the conference across cities and formats without losing its identity.

Brand Vision

Every year, EMERGE arrives in a new city with a new theme. The visual identity has to stay consistent while still feeling specific to that year’s conversation. The design language anchors in forward motion: bold, confident typography and a palette that signals energy without noise, built to carry a room of 500 people and a global podcast audience at once. Each year’s identity stands on its own and adds to a longer arc, the same way the conference itself works.

The strong visuals lend themselves to an event app, apparel, event signage, and program materials. The brand is as vibrant and dynamic as the event itself.

EMERGE exterior signage

EMERGE has grown from a conference into a safe space for advancing ideas, community, and progress in financial health. That’s not easy to capture in a brand but Substance has always understood what we were trying to build. The brand captures the gravitas of what this gathering means to people.”
