C2C started as a question Google Cloud needed answered: how do you build a community around a platform that people use in different ways, in different places, for different reasons. The name we landed on carries two meanings at once. It’s sea to sea, because the community spans every region Google Cloud serves. It’s also customer to customer, because that’s the whole model: practitioners learning from practitioners instead of from a sales deck.

Substance led naming, identity, and campaign for C2C, building a brand system flexible enough to represent a global, ever-changing group of users while staying instantly recognizable as one community.

Brand Vision

A global community needs an identity that can travel without losing itself. The C2C mark was designed as a system rather than a fixed symbol: a shape built to hold an image, a pattern, or a moment inside it. For a regional summit, the mark takes on local color. For a holiday, it shifts again. The logo stays recognizable while it keeps changing, the same way the community itself keeps changing shape.

Alongside the identity, Substance built a campaign that turned Google into a verb again, this time pointed at Google Cloud. Across the site and in outreach, the question became how do you Google Cloud, where do you Google Cloud. The language turned a technical platform into a daily habit, something people do rather than something people buy.

The C2C brand has grown alongside the community it represents, giving Google Cloud a name and identity built to expand across regions, formats, and moments without losing its shape.

C2C started as a naming challenge and became something bigger. Substance understood that our community needed a brand that could hold two ideas at once: a global reach and a genuinely peer-to-peer culture. The identity they built gives us a mark that can shift for every region and every moment, without ever losing what makes C2C recognizable.”
